Friends of William Brookes School Event
26/02/2010

Thanks to Ellie Peters for supplying us with this poster for next year’s ALL SCHOOL REUNION. This really is the last chance ‘Old William Brookesians’ will get to mingle in the shadows of the original school.
We thought it best to let folks know of the event well in advance: some of you may be making a long journey and might appreciate the advance warning.
We’ll be digging deep into our archives for some photies for the day, and would ask you to send any pictures you have to wbs2010reunion@yahoo.co.uk

Wednesday 1st of July had to be THE hottest day this year, and our talented singers were about to turn up the heat, as they belted out some amazing songs to a VERY appreciative audience. As always, it was a packed house for the hugely popular competition: students, friends, parents and staff cheered the performers on, fanatically.
To kick off the proceedings, we were delivered a fantastic rendition of ‘YMCA’ – a great warm up piece, which certainly had the audience participation factor going on. Thanks to Ben, Will, Charlie and Sam for that one.
The final ten acts had won their place from many auditions and proved themselves worthy finalists, bringing the audience to their feet after each and every performance.
Whilst the judges retired to make their decision, we were amused by Jess and Haidee’s Little Grey Riding Hood rap and the extremely talented ‘Soul Band’.
Amy and Kate were announced third place and Lana second, with Ffion top of the podium.
Mrs Jaeger thanked the contestants, judges, musicians and the many, many people who had helped make the show the success it was.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s competition.

These two Year 11 students danced to say “Au revoir” to their fellow class mates on Friday, May 22nd. The short piece was one of many performances and speeches to celebrate five years at William Brookes.
Some of our students will meet again for exams: many will return as Sixth Formers, but just about everyone will be at the Prom on June 26th. Watch this space for the red carpet exposé.
This year’s Open Evening was as good as ever, with lots of activities, displays, demonstrations and sound advice from staff and students alike.
It was a very busy, exciting event and we hope you all left with a taste of what life is like at William Brookes School.

A big thank you to all the volunteers on the day. Once again, you did us proud and it was rewarding to hear so many visitors commenting on how knowledgeable, courteous and enthusiastic students were.
William Brookes School would like to invite parents and carers of Year 6 pupils to our Open Days.
Our Open Evening runs from 7 until 9p.m. on Wednesday 22nd October, whilst our Open Morning starts at 9.30a.m. and runs until 12 Noon on Friday 24th October.
Both events will be most informative whilst allowing you to experience at first hand the school’s facilities; talk to students and staff and enjoy the positive atmosphere we share at William Brookes.
